AVENGERS "TOWER" ATTRACTION
Hong Kong Disneyland

ATTRACTION CONCEPT AND DESIGN
ORIGINAL CONCEPT
Hong Kong Disneyland's version of Avengers campus dates back to 2016 when it was first announced as part of the park's expansion plans. The original plan called for a "new immersive themed area using "Marvel" intellectual property, with one ride and other entertainment offerings", set to open in 2023, joining the re-themed Buzz Lightyear attraction (which is now Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle), and the Iron Man Experience.

βIt isn't clear from the 2016 plan what exactly the new Marvel-inspired attraction would entail, but the concept art showed an expansive building - so this was definitely always planned to be something significant in size and scope - and we can see on the map that the area previously occupied by Autopia was set aside for the expansion.β

PIVOT TO AVENGERS
At D23 in 2024, we then received a number of announcements regarding Marvel inspired attractions from around the world, including this one for Hong Kong. The initial concept art and the introductory remarks on stage, suggested that this was primarily a Spider-Man attraction in which the friendly neighborhood hero would battle some of this notorious enemies, who have been drawn to the scientific event hosted by Tony Stark.

In September 2025, we got some new art of the show building, and some concept artwork showing the attractions' characters:

Putting these two pieces together, we can make a couple of assumptions about the new attraction:
β
-
The height of the building seems to all but confirm that this is going to be Tower of Terror style drop ride. This was of course also hinted at with the previous Spider-Man / Doc Oc artwork, but it was possible that this could have been a ride vehicle like we see in Epic Universe's Ministry of Magic ride.
-
The new concept art shows that the ride seems to have pivoted to featuring multiple Avengers - including Dr Strange, Thor, and Black Panther - joining Spider-Man.
-
The bottom of the artwork seems to show a portal being opened by Dr Strange, with different Marvel locations pictured in the background. The "up and down" of the ride could therefore represent guests being transported into new areas through these portals.
-
We can see a meet-and-greet opportunity with Captain America, which is a slightly odd choice as they aren't obviously featured in the attraction. This perhaps suggests that Disney are hinting that Cap will be featured, or alternatively that they want to highlight that we're going to see more Marvel heroes in the expanding land than just those featured on the attractions.
-
The "Research Testing Labs" looks to be a separate location than this main attraction. This could be a dining location similar to what we have with Pym Test Kitchen in Disneyland (Anaheim)'s own Avengers Campus or possibly just a retail location.
LOCATION
Hong Kong Disneyland's Tomorrowland has changed significantly over the years, wih only two opening day attractions still in operation (and one of those, Space Mountain, has been rethemed to Hyperspace Mountain). Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters has since been replaced by Ant-Man and The Wasp, while the three additions in 2006 have all since departed:

KEY: To be located in new Stark Expo
Though not in the opening day plans, the addition of Autopia in 2006 expanded Tomorrowland to the other side of the railway tracks, and we can see from the park map from that time just how large that plot of land is:

The aerial view of Tomorrowland - including the open plot of land currently under development - also highlights the size of this new area:

Retail / Dining
As a final comparison, we can roughly overlay the Tower of Terror from Hollywood Studios into Hong Kong's expansion pad to get an idea as to how how additional space there will be for retail, dining, and character meets.

Google Maps shows this total expansion area as measuring around 0.8 hectares. The show buildings for Disney's other "drop tower" attractions are approximately 0.25 hectares (2,500 square metres or 2,7000 square feet) each, which include a relatively lengthy queue, and small retail space. If this entire space is indeed going to be accessible to guests (as opposed to some backstage elements) then we might expect quite a bit more retail and dining than we have in the concept art shown earlier.
